We are pleased to announce that the self-service Wi-Fi rental "WiFiBOX", which allows you to easily rent a mobile Wi-Fi router without contact, will be installed in the 2nd floor international departure lobby of Sendai Airport, and the service will start from Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Masu.
This is the first installation in Miyagi Prefecture, bringing the total number of WiFi BOX installation locations to 145 facilities and 155 locations. Going forward, we will continue to actively install these systems at domestic airports, stations, and commercial facilities, including in the Tohoku area and Miyagi Prefecture, with the aim of further improving convenience for our customers.

Installation background
Sendai Airport, which boasts the largest number of passengers among the airports in Tohoku and functions as the gateway to the Tohoku region, is currently serving Seoul, Taipei, Dalian, Beijing, and Shanghai, with the resumption of international flight operations in December 2022. It operates on 4 routes and 5 cities. In addition, the number of passengers on domestic and international flights in fiscal 2023 will be approximately 3.5 million, an increase of 27% from the previous year, and a recovery to 95% of the pre-coronavirus (fiscal 2019) level. Demand is recovering in both cases.
Sendai Airport is approximately 35 minutes by car from the center of Sendai City, and is easily accessible by using the "Sendai Airport Access Line" from JR Sendai Station. Furthermore, it is approximately a 35-minute drive to Matsushima, Miyagi's premier tourist destination, making it a highly convenient airport for returning home and sightseeing.
The number of inbound foreign tourists is increasing, as well as overseas travelers and business travelers from Japan who use Sendai Airport, and travelers who connect to Kansai International Airport, New Chitose Airport, and Fukuoka Airport to go overseas. It is thought that it will continue. We decided to install WiFiBOX because it can be used both domestically and internationally, and supports six languages including Korean, so it can meet the needs of all customers.
