Service starts from April 3rd at Osaka Station City Information

A self-service Wi-Fi rental "WiFiBOX" that allows you to easily rent a mobile Wi-Fi router without contact has been newly installed at Osaka Station City Information located on the 3rd floor of JR Osaka Station, and will be available from Wednesday, April 3, 2024. We would like to inform you that we will start the service. By installing it at a facility inside JR Osaka Station, it has become more convenient, not only for use by tourists including inbound tourists, but also for temporary use within Japan, such as when there is a shortage of gigabytes at the end of the month.
This brings the total number of WiFi BOX installation locations to 109 facilities and 118 locations. We will continue to expand our services domestically, including in Osaka, with the aim of improving convenience for even more customers.

Installation background

JR Osaka Station boasts the highest number of users in the JR West area, with an average daily ridership of approximately 350,000 people (as of 2022). In addition, in March last year, an underground platform opened in the Umekita area, and the Kansai Airport limited express "Haruka" and the "Kuroshio" bound for Wakayama, which had not previously served JR Osaka Station, now stop there. I did. This is expected to further increase the number of users using JR Osaka Station. Furthermore, it is adjacent to stations for private railways and subway lines, and is surrounded by many hotels and commercial facilities, making it truly the best terminal station in Kansai.
Until now, in the Osaka/Umeda area, we have been providing WiFi BOX services at "La Palette Osaka store" and "Episode Osaka store" located inside JR Osaka Station, but the available hours for both are the store's business hours. within and limited. By installing this at Osaka Station City Information, you will be able to pick up and return items from early in the morning until late at night, outside of the business hours of both stores. Additionally, we decided to install it because it will be on the conductor line between the outside of the 3rd floor ticket gate and the Umekita area, making it an easy-to-use location.
It can be used by inbound tourists who need a communication environment while sightseeing after arriving at JR Osaka Station, to meet daily domestic demands such as business or month-end gigabyte shortages, and even before overseas travelers arrive at the airport. We believe this will lead to further improvements in convenience, such as increasing the number of pick-up locations in the city when picking up items in advance.
