Service to begin November 7 at Yamagata Airport

Background of Installation

Yamagata Airport will have about 300,000 passengers in FY2022, about 186% of the FY2021 level, recovering to about 90% of the level before the Corona disaster (FY 2019). Normally, only domestic flights are operated, but on October 5, 2023, international charter flights between Yamagata Airport and Taiwan resumed operation for the first time in 3 years and 8 months. Since then, there have been 16 round-trip flights and 32 flights in about a month, and many tourists from Taiwan have visited Yamagata Prefecture, which is expected to further expand the use of the airport in the future.
Yamagata Airport is located in a convenient location for sightseeing and return trips, with easy access to major areas, such as Yamagata City (30 minutes by car), Tendo Onsen (10 minutes by car), one of the best hot spring resorts in Yamagata Prefecture, and direct cab and hired car services to Zao Onsen and Tsuruoka City. The WiFi box will be installed to meet the needs of not only domestic travelers who are in need of a gig at the end of each month for sightseeing, return trips, and business, and Japanese travelers who connect to Haneda Airport and other airports for overseas travel, but also inbound foreign travelers when international charter flights are in operation. The WiFi box will be installed in order to meet the needs of more people.
