Background

Shonai Airport will have approximately 230,000 passengers in 2022, which is 222.2% of the number in 2021. Normally, four round-trip Haneda flights are operated daily, but in May of this year, when the number of flights was increased to five round-trips for a limited period, the number of passengers exceeded 30,000 for the first time in approximately 3.5 years, showing a favorable trend. Due in part to the impact of this, it has been decided to extend the period from October 1 to 28, which was originally scheduled, and increase the number of round-trip flights by five until March 30 next year.
In addition, Shonai Airport was selected as the best airport in 2023 for the "ANA Quality Award" sponsored by All Nippon Airways, which evaluates and awards on-time performance, safety, and service quality of airports serving the area. The airport has been promoting efforts to improve facilities and increase customer satisfaction, and is expected to capture not only the domestic market but also the inbound market in the future.
With the installation of the WiFiBOX, we will be able to meet not only the domestic demand for business, sightseeing, return trips, and gig shortage, but also the needs of many travelers who depart from Shonai Airport and connect to Haneda Airport for overseas travel.
