We are pleased to announce the installation of a new self-contained Wi-Fi rental "WiFiBOX" on the 1st floor of the domestic terminal at Oita Airport, which allows customers to easily rent a mobile Wi-Fi router using a non-contact device, and the service will begin on September 4, 2023 (Monday).
This is the second installation of WiFiBOX at airports in the Kyushu area, following Fukuoka Airport, bringing the total number of WiFiBOX locations to 30 facilities and 36 locations. Background of Installation
Oita Airport is on the verge of returning to the level before the Corona disaster, with the number of passengers in FY2022 topping 1.5 million for the first time in three years, a 173.7% increase over FY2021. In addition, from June 2023, regular flights on the Seoul (Incheon) route, which had been suspended since August 2019, will resume, and an increase in the number of inbound foreign travelers is also expected.
Oita Prefecture is home to some of Japan's leading hot spring resorts, including Beppu Onsen and Yufuin Onsen, and is also known as "Onsen-ken Oita," a popular tourist destination for both domestic and international travelers. In addition to overseas travelers and business travelers from Japan, including tourists, and travelers connecting from major domestic airports such as Narita and Haneda to overseas destinations, the number of inbound foreign travelers using flights to Seoul is also expected to increase. Therefore, we have decided to install WiFi boxes in order to meet the needs of users.
