We are pleased to announce the installation of a new self-service Wi-Fi rental "WiFiBOX" on the 1st floor of the North Terminal at Osaka International (Itami) Airport, which will begin service on July 26, 2023 (Wednesday).
This is the first installation at Osaka International (Itami) Airport. The new service will be installed in response to requests from overseas business travelers connecting at Narita and Haneda Airports to Europe, the United States, and other destinations, and will also be available to foreign visitors to Japan who arrive at Osaka International (Itami) Airport for sightseeing and business in Japan and those who connect to Osaka International (Itami) Airport.

Background
Osaka International (Itami) Airport is an airport with a well-developed domestic flight network, with flights to destinations throughout Japan from Hokkaido to Okinawa in less than two hours and many flights to Haneda Airport. It is also located in a location that is highly accessible from the Osaka metropolitan area, Kobe, and Kyoto, as it straddles three cities in two prefectures, Toyonaka and Ikeda in Osaka Prefecture and Itami in Hyogo Prefecture.
Many Kansai residents who are traveling to Europe, the U.S., or other long-distance overseas destinations connect from Osaka International (Itami) Airport to Narita or Haneda Airports, and in such cases, the airport provides a connection route that allows them to transfer without leaving the restricted area. For this reason, there have been cases where WiFiBOXes cannot be picked up at Narita and Haneda Airports, and we have received many requests from frequent international business travelers in particular to install WiFiBOXes at Osaka International (Itami) Airport.
Many people have been using WiFiBOX at Kansai International Airport since its release on April 1, 2022, and the installation at Osaka International (Itami) Airport will greatly cover the needs of overseas travelers from the Kansai area. The new WiFiBOX will also be able to respond to the needs of those who travel to and from different airports, such as those who depart from Osaka International Airport (Itami) and return to Kansai International Airport (Kansai International Airport), as well as to the needs of domestic business, sightseeing, and gigabit shortages.
