(Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuji Yoshitake; hereafter, "the Company"), a global provider of cross-border mobile communications solutions, announces the launch of "WiFiBOX," an unprecedented Wi-Fi rental service that allows customers to easily rent a contactless mobile Wi-Fi router for 840 yen per day (tax included, unlimited/Japan plan). The service will begin on April 12, 2023 (Wednesday) at one location on the 2nd floor of Shinjuku Milord.
Shinjuku Milord will be the first commercial facility in Japan to introduce "WiFiBOX" (according to Telecom Square Inc.).
WiFiBOX" is a new Wi-Fi rental service released on April 1, 2022 by our company. It is a sharing type service that allows immediate reservation, receipt, and start of use without prior reservation. The Japan domestic plan allows unlimited use for 840 yen per day (tax included), and the terminal includes a charging cable and mobile battery function, allowing users to charge their smartphones. The service design was highly evaluated for its multiple benefits, including meeting the non-personal needs of Corona Disaster, eliminating complicated procedures and queues for users, reducing operating costs, and securing extra space at the installation site, and was thus awarded the Good Design Award for 2022.
With the installation of the WiFiBOX at Shinjuku Mill Road, customers can borrow a terminal and relax in the facility's cafes and restaurants when they require stable communication for business use or when they are short on communication charges at the end of the month.
WiFiBOX" services have already been launched at major airports nationwide, including Narita, Haneda, and Kansai International Airports, as well as at Tokyo Station. In addition to the multiple locations in the Shinjuku area, WiFiBOX will be installed at stations and airports in Japan in order to further enhance customer convenience.
