"WiFiBOX", an unprecedented international Wi-Fi rental service that won the Good Design Award in 2022
Service provided at four locations in total at Kansai International Airport, with improved convenience through installation on the departure and arrival floors of international flights
(Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuji Yoshitake), a global provider of cross-border mobile communications solutions, has announced the installation of additional "WiFiBOX" at Kansai International Airport Terminal 1, 4F Departure Floor and 1F Arrival Floor, and Terminal 2 from December 1 (Thursday), 2012. The additional WiFiBOX will be located on the 4th Departure Floor, 1st Arrival Floor and Terminal 2 of Kansai International Airport on Thursday, December 1, 2012. The additional WiFiBOX will be available for application, pick-up, and return on the same day. With this addition, a
total of four WiFiBOX will be available at Kansai International Airport, including those already installed on the 4th floor of Terminal 1's International Departure Floor.
WiFiBOX is a new overseas Wi-Fi rental service released on April 1, 2022. It is the world's first automatic mobile Wi-Fi router rental service that allows unattended pickup and return of the router, with rentals starting at an overwhelmingly industry-low 300 yen (price including tax) and unlimited plans available not only in Japan but also in approximately 130 countries and regions worldwide, the most in the industry. The terminal contains a cable for charging, and the mobile battery and Wi-Fi functionality are combined in one unit for convenience that eliminates the need for extra luggage. In addition, the service design, which has a multifaceted combined effect, was highly evaluated and received the Good Design Award for 2022.
After the service was launched, it was installed at Narita Airport, Haneda Airport, and Kansai International Airport, and at Kansai International Airport, the service was provided in the "Kansai Airport Baggage Service" on the 4th departure floor of Terminal 1. With a view to the resumption of full-scale international traffic, we are planning to expand the service nationwide, and have now decided to add the service to Kansai International Airport, the western gateway to Japan. We will continue to actively install the service at airports and train stations in Japan to further enhance customer convenience.
