Japan's first introduction to the increasing number of "EkinaKa sharing services"! (*1) Unlimited Wi-Fi that can be rented immediately at stations
Telecom Square Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuji Yoshitake), a global provider of cross-border mobile communications solutions, has introduced "WiFi Rental," an unprecedented Wi-Fi rental service that allows users to rent a mobile Wi-Fi router for 840 yen per day (tax included, unlimited/Japan plan). (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; hereinafter referred to as "Telecom Square"), a global provider of Wi-Fi router rental services, will launch its "WiFiBOX" service on December 1, 2022 (Thursday) at "NewDays Yaesu Chuo Gate" located inside the Yaesu Chuo Gate on the first floor of JR Tokyo Station. Yaesu Central Gate on the 1st floor of the Yaesu Central Station.
WiFiBOX" is a new Wi-Fi rental service released on April 1, 2022, and is a sharing type service that allows users to immediately apply, receive, and start using Wi-Fi without prior reservation. The Japan domestic plan offers unlimited use for 840 yen per day (tax included), and the terminal includes a charging cable and mobile battery function, allowing users to charge their smartphones. The service design was highly evaluated for its multifaceted effects, including meeting the non-personal needs of Corona Disaster, eliminating cumbersome procedures and queues for users, reducing operating costs, and securing extra space at the installation site, and was awarded the Good Design Award for 2022.
Nowadays, the rental of mobile Wi-Fi routers for temporary use is expected to be in demand not only for overseas travel, but also for various situations in Japan, such as business trips, telework, sightseeing, moving, hospitalization, and as a "sub-line" in emergency situations such as large-scale communication failures.
WiFiBOX has already been installed at Narita Airport, Haneda Airport, and Kansai International Airport, and now we have begun installation at Tokyo Station, an important hub station in Japan, in order to meet further needs. In addition to the multiple locations at Tokyo Station, we will continue to install WiFiBOX at other stations and airports in Japan in order to further enhance customer convenience.

Expanding "Ekinaka Sharing Service"
Recently, a variety of sharing economy services have been developed in so-called "Ekinaka" stations. Umbrella sharing services and mobile battery rental services are particularly popular.
All of these services are characterized by the fact that they are unattended and can be picked up simply by reading a two-dimensional code on the spot.
Another important point is that you can return the rental equipment to a different location than where you borrowed it. In response to the
needs of consumers who find it time-consuming to carry around a loan and who want to pick it up only when they need it, these services are being actively deployed in eco-friendly locations that make it easy to borrow while on the move.
