Telecom Square and the Kyoto City Tourism Association have launched a service to lend mobile Wi-Fi routers free of charge in the event of a disaster at the Kyoto Tourist Information Center "Kyonavi"

Telecom Square Co., Ltd. has entered into an agreement with the Kyoto City Tourism Association, a public interest incorporated association, to provide mobile Wi-Fi routers at the Kyoto General Tourist Information Center (hereinafter referred to as "KyoNavi") to foreign visitors to Japan and those stranded in the event of a disaster. We would like to inform you that we have started a free rental service (hereinafter referred to as this service) from 11:00 on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

Telecom Square is the first service to provide a mobile communication environment immediately and free of charge in the event of a disaster. In addition, this service can be provided immediately after a disaster by utilizing Telecom Square's self-service Wi-Fi rental service ``WiFiBOX'', which allows you to easily rent mobile Wi-Fi routers installed in ``Kyonavi''.

background

Telecom Square's company policy is to contribute to society and create new value through innovative services. “WiFiBOX” has been installed in “Kyonavi” since May 2023 and has been providing a mobile communication environment mainly for travelers. Additionally, in addition to providing daily tourist information services, "Kyonavi" collects, provides, and responds to information needed by tourists, such as disaster information and traffic information, in the event of a natural disaster. As a result of this agreement, we have started a service that lends out mobile Wi-Fi routers free of charge in the event of a disaster.

Service overview

Based on this agreement, it is now possible to rent out up to 50 mobile Wi-Fi routers free of charge at Kyonavi in the event of an emergency. Users can easily contact family and friends about their safety and collect information. In addition, ``Kyonavi'' has two storage battery systems on site in preparation for business continuity in the event of a power outage, ensuring service stability.
